Retrograde Intubation (RI) remains an important tool for the anesthesiologist in obtaining a secure airway when conventional methods fail. In the 2013 ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm, it is listed as a possible technique in the situation in which adequate ventilation is maintained following unsuccessful intubation.
