Uncovering Invisible Illness in Women's Health - Sarah's Story
Just five days before her wedding, Sarah Watson, a healthy and active young woman, suffered a heart attack at age 29. Heart issues had always run on the male side of her family.
Something that is not widely known is that one in five women dies from heart disease. It's an illness that kills six times more females than breast cancer.
At Ochsner Health, Dr. Salima Qamruddin, MD is running a clinic intending to prevent heart disease in young women. She hopes that by reaching women with multiple risk factors and getting them to come in and get their health evaluated many more lives can be saved.
In the latest film produced for us by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, watch Sarah's story and learn about how clinicians are using the latest ultrasound technology in the fight against cardiac disease.
