Use of the NCAST Parent-Child Interaction Scales in Healthy Babies Healthy Children and Nurse-Family Partnership Programs in Ontario.
The Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) program is offered by public health units across Ontario as a requirement of the Ontario Public Health Standards (June 2021) to support the goal of healthy growth and development in communities. The program is founded on evidence-informed home visiting guidelines including the use of specific assessment tools such as the Nursing Child Assessment Satellite Training (NCAST) Parent-Child Interaction (PCI) scales. This webinar will introduce the NCAST PCI Scales in the context of Ontario public health units, with a brief review of the history, current functionality, role and benefits of this assessment tool within the HBHC and Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) programs. The role of the NCAST PCI Instructor will be discussed, including recruitment criteria, role expectations and supports provided. The webinar will conclude with a review of the NCAST PCI Scales outside of the public health context.
