In this study, researchers explored the effects of mild hypercapnia on neurologic outcomes in adults who had been resuscitated after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The study compared patients who received targeted mild hypercapnia with those who received normocapnia. The results showed that there was no significant difference in neurologic outcomes or mortality between the two groups. This suggests that mild hypercapnia may not offer any additional benefits for patients with coma after cardiac arrest compared to maintaining normal carbon dioxide levels.
