Close monitoring of the critically ill patient is a staple of care in the ICU. One of the simplest and most common ways that we can do that is with an arterial line. This arterial catheter gives us the most accurate and real-time reading on our patient's blood pressure. In this first lesson in a new series looking at Arterial Lines, we talk about what they are, why we use them, and some risks that come along with their use.
