This PHO Rounds session will summarize evidence on the impact of treatment on tuberculosis (TB) infectiousness. The policy implications of this evidence will then be discussed leading to a review of the de-isolation guidelines from the recently published 8th Edition of the Canadian TB Standards. This presentation will also discuss de-isolation of people under evaluation of TB and recent data on the role of newer molecular tools; examples will be shared to illustrate key themes and facilitate discussion.
