Positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) measure the probability of a test result being correct (either positive or negative) and can help healthcare providers make decisions about further testing or treatment for their patients.

In this video, we discuss another important research topic: diagnostic accuracy. The diagnostic accuracy of a test is the degree to which the test can accurately identify the cause of the conditions (aka validity). In clinical situations, we determine if a test is accurate by determining if it can discriminate between patients with and without a condition. We use two basic measures to determine the accuracy: sensitivity and specificity.
